Judge Stephen French was appointed to the New Mexico Court of Appeals in February 2016 and again in January 2017.  He grew up in Albuquerque, graduating from Highland High School and from UNM with his Bachelor’s degree.  He received his Juris Doctorate from the California Western School of Law in 1980.

 

Stephen French has more than 39 years of experience in civil and criminal law, appellate practice, and as a defense attorney for statewide public entities, our schools and universities. Stephen French has been listed in “The Best Lawyers in America” since 2001 and was named the New Mexico Defense Lawyers Association Outstanding Civil Defense Lawyer of the Year in 2014.

 

He has been mediating cases all over New Mexico for 20 years.
